in 2016, prine named winner of pen/song lyrics award, given 2 songwriters every other year pen new england chapter. 2016 award shared tom waits , songwriting collaborator wife kathleen brennan. judges award included peter wolf, rosanne cash, paul simon, elvis costello , others, literary judge salman rushdie.
