league

dunaad, glengarry , oban camancheroes made first league. league has expanded cover of major shinty playing areas. of 2012, these known marine harvest leagues.


until 2013, there national league one, teams of 10 a-side, 2 regional divisions, based on sport s traditional north , south districts, in teams played 8 a-side. however, led small leagues , lack of games resulted in stilted growth game.


however, in 2014, wca amalgamated north , south divisions 2 national division two. this, along promotion of skye , lochaber national division one, resulted in 2 sizeable leagues allowing more regular play.

valerie fraser trophy – equivalent of camanachd cup women s game. club need win 2 games win it. in order increase number of teams competing, division 2 teams permitted entry in 2012. has been sponsored peter gow of inverness several years.
challenge cup – cup division 2 , reserve sides. caledonian canal sponsored tournament, marine harvest cup 2012.

there north , south representative games @ senior , u-18 level. these 1 of few 12 a-side games played in women s game. these traditionally played in oban.
