in 1966 silvin moved united states attend college. earned bs georgetown university in 1970, , mba in both finance , hospital administration cornell university in 1972. worked @ friesen international, hospital design , management consulting firm in washington, dc 1972 until acquired american medical international, inc. (nyse: ami) in 1976. rose head of international division of ami, owned , operated thirty hospitals in ten foreign countries.

after retiring hospital industry in 1998, silvin started writing. published survived swiss boarding schools: arc triumph in 2006. book received notoriety among le rosey alumni. silvin s second book, walking rainbow: arc triumph published in 2008, autobiographical, chronicling aids crisis. silvin s third book, noblesse oblige: duchess of windsor knew her, published in 2010, recounting silvin s encounters widowed duchess of windsor, former wallis simpson.


in 2014 silvin published first coffee table book: villa mizner-the house changed palm beach . book explores life , work of architect addison mizner, responsible creating mediterranean revival in south florida, including via mizner , other vias around worth avenue in palm beach.


silvin , partner dr. robert versteeg founded silvin books llc in 2015, full-service publishing company, , released second coffee table book in 2016. normandie: tragic story of majestic ocean liner details building of french line s magnificent art deco flagship, four-year active working life, , sinking in new york city in 1942, when being converted serve america s large troop carrier.


in 2017 silvin books renamed silvin books & productions, , has expanded publishing other authors works, assisting clients in creating , presenting lectures. silvin books & productions released second edition of silvin s book noblesse oblige, duchess of windsor knew in november 2017.

silvin started lecturing duchess of windsor in 2010 after release of third book. increased lecture opportunities when added addison mizner s life , work lecture topic in 2014. in 2016, publication of normandie book, added topic lecture series. additionally, expanded normandie presentation lecturing history of transatlantic ocean liner travel in general. has lectured @ several universities, many venues in key west, palm beach , west palm beach, florida; atlanta , thomasville, georgia; newport, rhode island; north carolina, , cape cod.

in 2010 silvin competed in gay games in cologne, germany. entered body building competition in over-60 class, , awarded gold medal. because of win, published article in queer times, called road cologne .


in 2014, silvin appointed landmarks preservation commission in town of palm beach, voluntary position. members voted in town council. served on commission senior altenate march 2014 until march 2016, when voted in full member. in december 2016 became landmarks commission s vice-chairman.
