world trade center, local platform, forms terminus of local service , offset south of express platform, @ northern edge of world trade center site. served e train. southbound local trains reach platform ramping underneath express tracks south of canal street station. northern end of world trade center station has signal tower , diamond crossover switch @ middle of through-platform.


the local tracks end @ bumper blocks @ south end of platform. in addition, there platform-level passageway on western side of station toward platform s south end, evidence of former half-length side platform western track; while in passenger use connection rest of station, former platform fenced off rest of local platform level, , passengers must use mezzanine access island platform. connection world trade center path station available @ station s south end; this, in turn, gives access fulton center (via dey street passageway), cortlandt street station of bmt broadway line, , future cortlandt street station on irt broadway–seventh avenue line.


the station formerly named hudson terminal or h&m, after nearby hudson terminal of hudson , manhattan railroad (now path). since 1973, station has been named after 2 world trade centers. wall tiles reading h , m remained on walls of world trade center station late december 1974, year after first world trade center completed. tiles painted over, since station s renovation, have been covered over.
