mission

the oklahoma wing performs 3 primary missions of civil air patrol: providing emergency services; offering cadet programs youth; , providing aerospace education both cap members , general public.

emergency services

the civil air patrol performs emergency service missions, including search , rescue missions directed air force rescue coordination center @ tyndall air force base. cap members perform disaster relief efforts, including providing aerial photography of disaster zones, transporting emergency service officials , equipment via ground , air, , handling transport of blood , human tissue, in support of red cross, when conventional means of transport unavailable. civil air patrol provides air force support conducting light transport, communications support, low-altitude route surveys, , assisting air force pilots during enemy interception drills flying restricted airspace, acting opposing force purpose of exercise, air force pilots can practice high-speed intercepts. civil air patrol pilots assist in counter-drug operations.

in may 2013, oklahoma wing undertook first ever large scale, ground-based photo reconnaissance mission fema following moore, oklahoma tornado. on 15,000 high resolution photographs provided fema aid in agency s damage assessment efforts.

cadet programs

the civil air patrol provides cadet programs youth aged 12 21. cadets take part in 16-step program includes aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness , moral leadership. oklahoma cadets cadets meet on average 2 hours per week, , 1 saturday per month, , have opportunities attend leadership encampments, career academies, , other activities during summer.

aerospace education

the civil air patrol offers aerospace education own members , general public. cadets provided education through cadet program , through museum tours, cadet special activities, military , civilian orientation rides, , guest speakers. senior members study aerospace through senior member professional development program. cap provides aerospace education public through providing classroom materials available teachers.
