the university divided 5 academic campuses. main administrative campus east campus. across de villiers graaff motorway lies west campus. 2 joined brick-paved walkway across highway called amic deck. east , west campus form single campus, bordered empire road north, jan smuts avenue east, jorrissen street , enoch sontonga road south , annet road west. historic east campus home of faculties of science , humanities, university council, senate , management. west campus houses faculties of engineering , built environment, , commerce, law , management. east campus home 4 residences, namely men s res (male), sunnyside (female), international house (mixed) , jubilee hall (female). west campus home barnato , david webster halls , west campus village (all mixed).


wits has 3 more academic campuses, located in parktown. wits education campus (wec) houses school of education, within faculty of humanities. wec boasts 3 female residences, forming highfield cluster, namely girton, medhurst , reith hall. east of wec (across york road), lies wits medical campus administration , academic centre of faculty of health sciences. west of wec (across victoria avenue) lies wits management campus, wits business school. within wits management campus ernest oppenheimer hall (male residence) , mixed parktown village.


there centres not academic although referred university campuses. these graduate lodge, campus lodge, south court , braamfontein centre; in city district of braamfontein , mixed gender. furthermore, there wits junction (mixed) , knockando halls of residence (a male residence located on grounds of parktown mansion called northwards) in parktown, , mixed esselen street residence in hillbrow.
