in june 1929, @ world congress of maccabi in czechoslovakia, yekutieli announced proposal organize first maccabiah, maccabiada (hebrew: המכביאדה‎‎), in spring of 1932, held in mandatory palestine. road fulfilling vision long , difficult. 1932 maccabiah games opened on march 28, 1932 , held in maccabiah stadium, had been built games in northern part of tel aviv. around 400 athletes 22 nations participated in games, became recurring event every 4 years, except during world war ii , 1948 arab–israeli war.

yosef married yehudit, daughter of akiva aryeh weiss, founder of ahuzat bayit. had 4 sons , 2 daughters. son, gideon yekutieli, professor of physics, first israeli nuclear physicist.
