connecticut

connecticut contains 169 incorporated towns. put terms equivalent other new england states, 20 cities/boroughs , 149 towns. vermont contains 246 incorporated towns , cities, cover of state s territory. 9 cities , 237 towns. there unincorporated areas in sparsely populated mountainous regions of state. of unincorporated areas in essex county, in northeastern part of state. bennington, windham , chittenden counties contain smaller amounts of unincorporated territory. territory includes 5 unincorporated townships , handful of gores , grants. remaining ten counties in state entirely incorporated (bennington , windham counties incorporated @ 1 time, lost status when town disincorporated). fewer 100 of state s residents live in unincorporated areas.

maine contains 488 organized municipalities of 23 incorporated cities, 431 incorporated towns, , remaining 34 organized plantations. these 488 organized municipalities cover of, not of, state s territory. of maine s sixteen counties, 4 entirely incorporated. 4 other counties entirely incorporated, include small amounts of unincorporated/unorganized territory (three of these 4 counties entirely incorporated or organized @ 1 time, lost status when town disincorporated or plantation surrendered organization). remaining 8 counties contain significant amounts of unincorporated/unorganized territory. of these areas in sparsely populated regions, however. 1.3% of state s population lives in areas not part of town, city, or plantation.
