145 mph typhoon amy, having developed on july 12 on open western pacific, brushed southern taiwan on 18th. outflow became restricted, , amy hit southern china on 19th 120 mph typhoon. caused heavy flooding, resulting in 99 casualties, 5000 people injured, , 15,000 people homeless. in addition, amy caused sinking of freighter in river, resulting in additional 31 deaths.
