IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line platform Chambers Street–World Trade Center/Park Place (New York City Subway)

park place on brooklyn branch of irt broadway–seventh avenue line located on park place between broadway , church street. underground station relatively deep because line underpins bmt broadway line , irt lexington avenue line, built when opened on august 1, 1918.

during 1964–1965 fiscal year, platforms @ park place, along @ 4 other stations on broadway–seventh avenue line, lengthened 525 feet accommodate ten-car train of 51-foot irt cars.

it has 2 tracks , single island platform line of blue i-beam columns alternating ones having standard black name plate in white lettering. both track walls have gold trim line along p tablets @ regular intervals.

northwest (railroad north) of station, tracks of station become express tracks of irt broadway–seventh avenue line, curving sharply northeast under west broadway. station close next stop north, chambers street @ west broadway, , northernmost entrances of station @ church , chambers streets less 400 feet (120 m) entrances station @ chambers street , west broadway.

the station has mezzanine @ each end. towards western end of platform, 2 long staircases lead intermediate landing another, shorter staircase leads main ind mezzanine near full oculus mosaic. here, there bank of turnstiles leading street stair goes northwest corner of park place , church street. staircase in mezzanine leads down southern end of ind express platform, transfer local platform via set of stairs.

the irt platform has own entrance/exit @ extreme eastern (railroad south) end. here, staircase , 2 escalators, none of together, lead mezzanine beneath street. staircase splits 2 separate staircases @ initial landing , each of have intermediate landing. on mezzanine, there turnstiles, both regular , heet (from when mezzanine had part-time token booth , regular turnstiles not left unstaffed). single street stair leads out northwest corner of broadway , park place. signage entrance 1 in complex says park place bullets 2 , 3 trains. short staircase in mezzanine once led entrance lobby of woolworth building. has been closed since september 11 attacks.
