in july, 1769 confederate troops under command of casimir pulaski, brother franciszek , józef bierzyński entered grand duchy of lithuania. following new reforms , laws came effect angered russian-saxon faction. bierzyński seized majority of radziwiłł s troops , militia. news reached radziwiłł, secretly left biała east prussia , arrived on july 20. on july 22, demanded asylum frederick ii great. officials in poland announced going stay in saxony old stepmother. frederick ii indeed granted him asylum, determined ally karol stanisław austrian supporters of bar confederation in silesia. on july 31 wrote letter a. krasiński, t. wessel , j. mniszech. bishop krasiński, close supporter of radziwiłł, responsible negotiating peace between russian court , confederates, however, not successful.


through prague radziwiłł came in last days of august cieszyn, met a. krasiński , discussed political matters. on september 7 left presov in order later settle (from november 1769) in nearby town of sebeș.
