the straits dollar introduced in brunei in 1906. later replaced malayan dollar introduced british colonies , brunei in 1939. replaced straits dollar @ par 1:1 exchange rate. malayan dollar issued board of commissioners of currency in malaya. board stopped issuing malayan dollar during japanese invasion during world war ii. malayan dollar had portrait of king george vi in front of note.


in 1952, board renamed board of commissioners of malaya , british borneo. board began issue notes malaya, singapore, sarawak, british north borneo, , brunei in 1953. known malaya , british borneo dollar. in 1967, malaya , british borneo dollar replaced 3 new currencies: malaysian dollar, singapore dollar , brunei dollar, @ par.


the singapore dollar still interchangeable brunei dollar today.
