previously known raf portreath, station built during 1940, opened in march 1941 , had varied career during second world war, raf fighter command station, october 1941 ferry stop-over aircraft bound to/from north africa , middle east, temporary stop-over usaaf , rcaf units, , coastal command station. end of war, had run down , in may 1950 handed government raf.
