the toad-1 system, known td-1, announced in 1993 , built extended version of decsystem-20 digital equipment corporation. original inspiration build desktop version of popular pdp-10 , name began acronym ten on desk . built @ xkl veteran engineers cisco, dec, hewlett-packard, , cdc.

it first xkl product produced , became available purchase in late 1995. toad-1 high-performance i/o oriented system 36-bit processor running tops-20. 36-bit multi- user system can provide service on 100 users @ time. toad-1 architecture incorporated modern peripherals, , open bus architecture, expanded physical , virtual memory while maintaining tops-20 user environment.


toad-2

the toad-2 built replace toad-1 , single chip reimplementation, used redundant control processors in networking equipment xkl. configured tops-20 timesharing.


darkstar dxm

first released in 2007, xkl installed darkstar dxm @ california institute of technology part of supercomputing bandwidth challenge. provided 5 times bandwidth, in excess of 100 gigabits/sec, existing system smaller , used less power.
