at 1 time, there many hotels along beachfront. many demolished after years of sitting vacant, although sixth avenue house bed & breakfast hotel (formerly berea manor) restored after being abandoned in 1970s—it no longer operational , sold single family home. hotels berkeley , oceanic inn have operated concurrently decades, while empress hotel , hotel tides restored , reopened. asbury hotel, located on 5th avenue, first hotel built in asbury park in 50+ years. stands old salvation army building once stood, has sat vacant on decade. building not torn down, entire inside gutted , redone. glass paneling added front , original outside brickwork kept. while located block , half beach, great view of ocean still offered upper floors , rooftop.
currently open hotels include berkeley oceanfront hotel (formerly berkeley-carteret oceanfront hotel), empress hotel, hotel tides, asbury park inn, oceanic inn, mikell s big house bed & breakfast , asbury hotel.

^ asbury park historical society dedicates rainbow room sign , asbury park historical society. accessed june 15, 2014. 16-foot metal , neon sign, removed when albion demolished in 2001 beachfront redevelopment, has since been stored briefly @ stone pony , ten years @ city s public works garage.
