borza , 1 of university of pittsburgh s tennis team s top player since beginning of college career in september 2005. borza s big east conference career started strong impressive 8-0 record, set pace rest of successful freshman season. end of spring, had tied pitt s record singles , doubles wins in 1 season, 26-7. additional wins fall pushed overall victory record year 47, , led team in singles , doubles wins. freshman year started trend of earning first place in carnegie mellon university invitational, has championed 3 years.
with 27 wins in spring of borza s sophomore year, beat record had tied previous season, giving best record single season in pitt tennis history. fall junior, borza entered 2007 eastern women s intercollegiate tennis tournament @ west point seventh-seed player , won tournament. in october, after participating in 137 matches, borza earned hundredth career victory, making tenth player make 100-win club in school s history , fastest so. as junior, borza became fastest player in pitt history record 100 career victories after competing in 137 career matches. alongside then-doubles teammate leah friedman, borza obtained pitt’s first-ever ita east region doubles ranking (no. 13) freshman. lone ranking big east school in top-14 poll. on december 7, 2007, intercollegiate tennis association ranked 26 women s tennis singles in eastern region.[2]
borza holds all-time pitt records single-season singles wins (28), career singles wins (91), career doubles wins (85) , combined wins (176). ranks second in doubles wins in season (23). borza honored 3 consecutive mvp titles pitt tennis. earned 2008-09 big east/aeropostale institutional scholar-athlete of year award , three-time member of big east academic all-star team. named pitt’s 2009 blue-gold award recipient , has name etched on university of pittsburgh varsity walk , graduated degree in psychology in 2009.
