macdonald first ran in busch east series in 2001, finishing 19th in points, , claimed first series win following season @ beech ridge motor speedway. after going winless in 2003 , 2004, macdonald won @ thompson speedway motorsports park; 2 years later, win @ stafford speedway, , in 2008, won both races @ new hampshire motor speedway. in 2009, won @ loudon again, finishing second in championship ryan truex. during season, macdonald won oxford 250 late model race @ oxford plains speedway; after electing replace 4 tires on pit stop threat of being lapped, macdonald passed brian hoar on lap 167 win. in 2014, macdonald won first pro series east race in 5 seasons , seventh series win @ bristol motor speedway after holding off gray gaulding , ben rhodes on green–white–checker finish.
