the stage of contest
host broadcaster channel 1 presented sub-logo , theme 2009 contest on 30 january 2009. sub-logo based upon fantasy bird , can used many colours. in previous years, sub-logo presented alongside generic logo. 2009 first year since 2001 there no slogan contest.
the stage designed new york-based set designer john casey, , based around theme of contemporary russian avant-garde. casey, had designed stage eurovision song contest 1997 in dublin, involved in design teams 1994 , 1995 contests. explained before [he] worked russians on tefi awards in moscow in 1998, [he] inspired , drawn art russian avant garde period, constructivists... [he] tried come theatrical design contest incorporates russian avant-garde art contemporary setting, entirely made of different types of led screens. casey explained together, various led shapes form finished product. furthermore, large sections of stage can move, including circular central portion of curved led screens, can moved effect , allow each song have different feel.
